Appin Historical Society, Argyll, Scotland, was set up in 1995 to promote research into local history and to undertake the collection, exchange and publication of information and material relating to Appin and district by means of meetings, lectures, field trips and publications.

Appin Historical Society meets one Saturday a month during the winter, usually in Port Appin Hall, with field trips in spring and autumn.  Some meetings and field trips are restricted to members.  We are at Appin Agricultural Show on the third Saturday of August, when we are pleased to meet prospective and existing members and friends.   Two magazines - The Appin Archive - are published annually.  These are also available for sale to non-members.

Membership is open to all at a cost of £7.50 for individual members and £12.50 for two people at the same address.   This entitles attendance at all meetings and field trips, usually without further charge, and a copy of each Appin Archive published during the year of membership.   The year starts on 1 August, when membership fees are due.   If you would like further details, please email us.  We welcome members from all over the world but regret that, due to high bank charges, we can accept payment only in £Sterling and we do not have facilities to accept credit cards.

As we do not employ a genealogist, we regret that we cannot undertake genealogical research on behalf of people wishing to trace their ancestors.  However, you may use the Forum page on this website as an aid to your research, if you wish.
